Memories of China

The Sun and Moon Pagodas in Guilin. The golden pagoda being the slightly taller of the two.

China is well known for selling fake goods. At least you know this is the real town!

There are no shortage of people in China. Be careful not to get lost in the crowd.

Moon Hill in Yangshou. Looks like a hole in one!

The late leader of China, Chairman Mao. I wonder how he slept at night. 45 million deaths during peace time would probably weigh on my mind!

This man was nice enough to welcome me into his home and show me his Chairman Mao and Communist artifact collection. Is Extreme Makeover: Home Edition still on TV?

Brothers in arms.

Little known fact: Mao was quite partial to fatty pork belly glazed with caramelised sugar and rice wine. Heart attack anyone?

It looks like Lenin has seen some darts practise.

In both China and Japan, the number 4 is considered unlucky because it sounds like  the word for death. After this four all draw, the teams decided the winner by a sudden death shootout!

 You can't beat Chinese philosophy.

There is a large Indian influence in Western China.

The impressive Leshan Giant Buddha in Sichuan Province. It stands at 71 metres tall and was carved out of the cliff face. The statue depicts a seated Maitreya Buddha.

What is that pandas do again? Oh yeah...eats shoots and leaves.
